Waitrose relaunches Jesmond store after multi-million pound refurbishment
Waitrose has relaunched its Jesmond store following a multi-million pound refurbishment.
The shop welcomed back customers on 12 August after a five-week transformation.
Subscribe to TRBCarried out in the store’s 15th anniversary year, the refurbishment has introduced a number of improvements, including a new-look bakery, an updated beer, wine and spirits offering, and enhanced fruit and vegetable sections with more products.
The store also features a new layout and new refrigeration for improved energy efficiency.
Customers are now also able to pick up Local John Lewis, Waitrose Entertaining and Waitrose Cellar orders in store, and can order home delivery from the shop using Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
Branch manager Anji Hewats said: “As we celebrate 15 years in Jesmond this year, this multi-million pound investment is a huge thank you to our local community for their continued loyalty. The whole team is excited to welcome back our customers and show everyone around their new and improved store.”
The news follows the opening of a new Waitrose shop in Chelmer Village in Essex earlier this month.
The supermarket is planning to open three new stores this year, including two full-line supermarkets in Hale Barns (Greater Manchester) and Cricklewood (North West London), and a convenience store in Ascot.
It is also refurbishing 28 shops and launching into airport travel retail for the first time, with four RELAY stores in Heathrow Terminal 2.
