Morrisons unveils new food box subscription service

Morrisons has launched a new food box subscription service to help meet customer demand for online grocery delivery during the Covid-19 crisis.

Shoppers will be able to opt for a weekly, fortnightly or monthly food box delivery and those opting for the service will receive a 5% discount on their chosen box. Customers switching to the box service will also be offered a further 20% discount on their first shop.

The supermarket launched the food box service in March in response to the Covid-19 lockdown and customers can choose from a range of pre-prepared boxes to meet their needs.

With coronavirus restrictions rising across the country,  Morrisons said demand for the boxes has increased by 56% in the last week.

Aidan Buckley, director of food to order at Morrisons, said: “”Customers use our food box service to get fresh food and cupboard essentials delivered to their doorstep quickly. We are making the service simpler and even better value to ensure everyone can get access to affordable food at this difficult time.”

The range includes essentials boxes for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans, fruit, meat and fish boxes, and gluten free and lean meat boxes for customers with special dietary requirements. It also includes a ‘Feed a Family Recipe Box’ containing five meals for a family of four and a box containing just  store cupboard essentials.

All boxes are ordered online and delivered to customers the next day by DPD.
