Iceland Foods rolls out concession model to Icelandic retailer Nettó

Frozen food retailer Iceland has rolled out its concession model to a Nettó store in the country of Iceland.

Situated in Mjódd, the shop-in-shop offers a selection of Iceland Food products, including exclusive brands such as TGI Fridays, Myprotein, and Slimming World.

While the products have previously been available in Nettó, this is the first time they have been displayed in a dedicated Iceland branded shop-in-shop environment.

The concept is expected to be introduced in additional Nettó stores later this year.

Tarsem Dhaliwal, chief executive of Iceland Foods, said: “We are excited to be able to offer our popular ranges in Nettó stores for Icelandic customers.

“The innovation, quality and value of these products has proved incredibly successful in the UK, and we are pleased to bring these ranges to a new group of Nettó customers.”

Auður Daníelsdóttir, chief executive of Drangar, said: “This collaboration enables us to offer our customers high-quality, innovative frozen food that delivers both convenience and great value.

“Nettó stores have been undergoing significant transformation in recent months, and this launch forms an important part of that process.”

The collaboration builds on a long-standing professional relationship between Sir Malcolm Walker, founder of Iceland Foods and trustee of the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation, and Jón Ásgeir Jóhannesson, chairman of SKEL.

The pair have worked together for more than 20 years, including during Baugur’s acquisition of the UK Big Food Group – Iceland Foods’ former holding company, in 2005.
