Greggs sales boosted by increase in customer visits

Greggs has posted an 8.3% uplift in like-for-like sales in its company managed shops in the six weeks to 9 November.

In a trading update, the company described its trading as very strong in its fourth quarter to date with total sales climbing by 12.4%.

Greggs said sales have been boosted by a better than expected increase in customer visits to its shops.

The numbers mean that Greggs’ total and like-for-like sales in the year to date have grown by 13.4% and 9.2% respectively.

Greggs now anticipates that its full year underlying pre-tax profit will be higher than its previous expectations.

The company operates more than 2,000 retail outlets throughout the UK.
