Co-op q-commerce managing director steps down

Co-op’s managing director of q-commerce has stepped down after eight years with the business.

Chris Conway joined Co-op in 2018 as director of ecommerce from Morrisons where he was head of online. Prior to that, he worked with Asda for over 13 years where his last role was senior director for grocery ecommerce.

In a post on LinkedIn, Conway said: “It’s been a privilege to help shape the evolution of our online and quick commerce proposition.

“What began as an emerging idea grew into a business of real scale – built by talented teams willing to test, learn and move at pace. I’m proud of what we achieved together, particularly in pushing established retail into faster, more agile territory.

“The experience reinforced for me that sustainable innovation comes from diverse thinking, strong customer focus and empowered teams.

“I’m now taking some time to recharge and reflect before considering my next chapter. Thank you to the many colleagues, partners and peers who were part of the journey.”

Co-op has been growing its quick commerce offering at pace in recent years. Last week, the retailer announced that it had introduced special price savings for its members on the Just Eat platform.
