Chapel Down appoints new chief financial officer

The Chapel Down winery business has appointed Robert Smith as its new chief financial officer.

A long-term shareholder in Chapel Down, Smith will join the company from PriceWaterhouseCoopers where he has been leading the UK and EMEA finance transformation practice and has held a number of senior leadership roles spanning his 13 year period as a partner.

He will join the business on 1 September 2022 when he will succeed Richard Woodhouse, who will remain in position until the end of August to ensure a smooth handover.

Woodhouse has been a member of the Chapel Down board and leadership team for the last 17 years, during which time he has led the financial and operations functions of the business. Chapel Down announced back in December that it is restructuring its executive leadership team to separate the head of the finance and operations role into two distinct positions.

The company has also announced that its fourth quarter trading performance was strong and in line with expectations. It will be unveiling its annual results on 25 April.
