Asda tests new convenience wholesale model in three-store Scotland trial
Asda has launched a new wholesale supply model for independent retailers in the convenience market.
The three-store trial, branded ‘Asda Convenience’, will initially roll out in Scotland in partnership with independent operator One-O-One. It will test how retailers can run stores under the new Asda Convenience fascia.
Subscribe to TRBSituated in Glasgow, the trial stores will allow Asda to refine the model and assess how to scale it more widely across the UK.
The new model is distinct from Asda’s existing, wholly owned Asda Express estate and has been developed specifically to support wholesale partnerships.
Each store will stock around 3,500 products, including Asda own-label, fresh and chilled groceries, and food-to-go.
Asda plans to use the initial store launches to develop the model, with the ambition to scale quickly if successful.
