Onitsuka Tiger opens first Red Concept Store in Europe at Covent Garden
Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger has opened its first Red Concept Store in Europe in Covent Garden’s Neal Street.
Launched in 2024 to mark the brand’s 75th anniversary, the concept was created to showcase a range of heritage styles with Onitsuka Tiger’s iconic ‘Mexico 66 ’ shoe at its core.
Designed by Studio Dini Cataldi, led by Filippo Dini and Gianluca Cataldi, the design of the single-story retail space features Onitsuka Tiger’s signature red colour, which has been inspired by Sakura cherry blossoms.
Design elements include polished red and black mirrors, monolithic black concrete display walls, and freestanding red glass units that resemble art installations.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Ryoji Shoda, head of Onitsuka Tiger Company, said: “Onitsuka Tiger is a cultural brand that reflects Japanese sensibility and aesthetic, fostering a dialogue with the world.
“This store transcends mere product sales. Located in the vibrant heart of Covent Garden, Seven Dials, where diversity and next-generation culture converge, we aspire to enhance the creative evolution of this area by subtly exploring the realms of art and entertainment, starting from Japanese design and craftsmanship.”
Onitsuka Tiger has partnered with the Crown & Anchor pub opposite the store to host a special event called Onitsuka Tiger Tavern from time to time.
