Arcadia Group appoints chairman

Arcadia Group has appointed Andrew Coppel as chairman.

Coppel is a former chief executive of De Vere Group and Queens Moat Houses. He is currently chairman of Dolphin Capital Investors and a non-executive director of M J Gleeson.

In his new position, Coppel will also become chairman of Top Shop Top Man and Taveta Investments. He will be responsible for each boards’ effectiveness and corporate governance and will also support the executive team with the delivery of its turnaround strategy.

Ian Grabiner, chief executive of Arcadia Group, said: “I am pleased to welcome Andrew to the group. He has a wealth of relevant experience and I look forward to working with him as we continue to implement our growth strategy.”

In a statement, Grabiner also gave an update on developments since the completion of Arcadia’s restructuring exercise over the summer.

He added: “We have been making good progress with our plans, focusing investment on delivering better customer experiences, improving our digital offer and extending our wholesale partnerships. Despite the ongoing headwinds for UK retailers, I am confident this progress will continue.”
