Urban Outfitters signs up for Sheffield’s Heart of the City regeneration scheme
Urban Outfitters has become the latest brand to sign up to Sheffield City Council’s Heart of the City regeneration project after agreeing a lease for 8,500 square feet of retail space.
The brand will join retailers such as Superdry, Fjallraven, Sostrene Grene, Birds & Blend, Weekend Offender and Lucy & Yak at the scheme where there will be a mix of international, regional, and independent retail brands.
Subscribe to TRBSpanning 1.5 million square feet, the regeneration project has transformed Sheffield city centre into a concentration of shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, experiences and residential units, and includes over 330,000 square feet of occupied workspace.
Urban Outfitters will begin fitting out the unit, which is situated at the bottom of Pinstone Street, in the coming weeks.
Laurence Jones, portfolio director at Rivington Hark, said: “With international brands such as Urban Outfitters queuing to become part of Heart of the City, complimented by cutting edge regional and independent brands, we look forward to announcing more new arrivals as we continue to transform the city centre.”
Sean McClean, director of regeneration and development at Sheffield City Council, said: “It is great to see the momentum surrounding our Heart of the City project shows no signs of slowing down, as we see another retailer secured to move into the development. This builds on recent openings to increase the retail offer in Heart of the City.
“Our aim was to transform and regenerate the area of the city centre, bringing people back into Sheffield and we’ve done just that. The city centre is a fantastic place for people to live, work and enjoy.”
