HMV to open second shop in the Netherlands

HMV will open its second shop in the Netherlands next month with a new site in Amsterdam, following the successful launch of its store in The Hague.

Spanning 4,977 square feet, the shop will offer over 30,000 different products, including music, film and TV, pop culture merchandise, technology, and literature.

Customers will be able to browse 6,000 different vinyl albums and 7,000 CDs, as well as 4,000 films and TV shows across Blu-Ray and 4K.

There will also be a range of collectable merchandise on offer, with 4,000 pop culture products and over 500 different T-shirt designs available across franchises including Stranger Things, K-Pop, Demon Hunters, and Funko POP!

HMV is currently extending its presence across Europe and strengthening its position in EU markets following five other successful store openings in Ireland and Belgium.

The retailer currently has over 100 sites across the UK.

Phil Halliday, managing director at HMV and Fopp, said: “We’re constantly striving to create new homes for communities of fans to come together and share their love of music and popular culture.

“From K Pop to classical, heavy metal to EDM, films, Anime and books, our new shop in Amsterdam will bring together ranges that can’t be found under one roof anywhere else. We’re confident that we can bring something new to Amsterdam and we can’t wait to open the doors to our new shop in March.

“Opening new shops in mainland Europe and Ireland continues to be the focus of the business as we look to expand overseas, and it is a testament to the team that we have had six successful launches so far, with another to follow in the Dutch capital.”
