John Lewis Partnership launches seasonal recruitment drive

The John Lewis Partnership is to recruit 10,000 temporary staff this festive season across its John Lewis and Waitrose stores, as well as for its distribution network.

The number is 3,000 more than last Christmas and double the COVID pandemic-hit 2020.

All permanent and temporary workers will receive free food from October 3 2022 to 6 January 2023 to help with the cost of living.

Thirty four John Lewis stores will be boosted by 2,000 temporary roles, including sales and marketing positions, while 4,000 temporary staff will be recruited to work across 331 Waitrose stores over the busy festive period. An additional 4,000 will fill roles in the supply chain, including warehouse workers and drivers to support increased online sales.

Andrew Murphy, Chief Operations Officer at the John Lewis Partnership, said: “We pride ourselves on creating a happy workplace because it’s our partners who make the difference and it’s thanks to them that John Lewis and Waitrose are two of the UK’s best-loved brands.

“We are looking forward to welcoming people across the country to grow our team and ensure we deliver a great Christmas for our customers.”
