Fenwick unveils 2025 Christmas window displays
Fenwick’s flagship store in Newcastle has unveiled its highly anticipated 2025 Christmas window display which is a modern reinterpretation of ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens.
The department store chain has also once again partnered with author and illustrator, Chris Riddell, to bring the classic story to life.
The window series features classic scenes from the novel, following the timeless story of Ebenezer Scrooge. After years of rejecting the joy of the season, Scrooge is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come, who lead him through a journey of self-reflection. Along the way, he discovers compassion, generosity, and the spirit of Christmas.
Mia Fenwick, executive deputy chair of Fenwick, said: “Our 2025 Fenwick Christmas Window has been brought to life by the extraordinary talent of Chris Riddell, who returns for a second year following the success of our 2024 collaboration.

Fenwick’s window display was created through months of detailed work on custom-made costumes, sourced vintage props, and hand-built sets. A team of sculptors, painters and designers translated Riddell’s illustrations into three-dimensional scenes, complemented by digital screens to add a modern element.
Riddell said: “I was thrilled to be asked to produce designs for Fenwick’s Christmas windows again this year.
“The theme of A Christmas Carol was so rich and resonant with the ghosts and Scrooge and a host of Dickensian characters, I couldn’t resist the challenge. The amazing team went to work on my drawings and have turned them into 3D tableaux that are breath taking.”
As in previous years, Fenwick has partnered with The Glasshouse International Centre for Music to compose a bespoke score for the display.
In addition, an exclusive bespoke Fenwick ‘A Christmas Carol’ bauble will be available to buy. as the perfect keepsake to remember the 2025 Christmas window display.
