The North Face opens applications for €1.5 million covid-19 fund

Outdoor brand The North Face has opened the application process for a new covid-19 related fund that will provide critical financial support for the global outdoor community.

Open to registered companies and charities in the UK, Germany, France and Italy, the Explore Fund can be accessed by a wide variety of organisations ranging from urban climbing gyms and ski schools and those who provide mountain guides and climbing coaches.

The North Face said the scheme aims to ensure those who have worked to foster and inspire exploration before will be able to do so again once the covid-19 crisis is over.

Jan Van Leeuwen, general manager of The North Face EMEA, said: “These are unprecedented times for everyone, including so many organisations and individuals that contribute to the global outdoor community. We’re incredibly fortunate to be part of such a strong and resilient industry and we’re proud to launch this fund to ensure those that make exploration possible today will be able to do so tomorrow. We wanted to say thank you and give back to our outdoor family.”

The brand will work closely with national and local outdoor officials to allocate funds and support recovery throughout the crisis. Applications will remain open until the 22 May and further details on how to apply can be found here
