Frasers Group puts Bob’s Stores under strategic review

Frasers Group has placed its Bob’s Stores retail business under strategic review.

The move follows confirmation that Nike will stop distributing to Bob’s Stores at the end of March 2021.

Bob’s Stores trades from 24 outlets in the US. In a statement, Frasers Group said the company is one of several US based retailers that Nike is understood to have cut ties with in recent days and that Bob’s store estate does not include any of the new “elevated” shops that are core to Frasers Group’s strategy.

It added: “Frasers Group continues to invest in its store portfolio and brand relationships and remains committed to its elevation strategy.”

The company acquired Bob’s Stores in 2017 in a deal that also included shops trading as Eastern Mountain Sports.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Frasers Group has purchased some of the assets of Dave Whelan Sports from the company’s administrators for £37 million.
