Trio of retailers upsize or enhance their stores at White Rose

Next has opened a new, bigger store at the White Rose shopping centre in Leeds while Superdry has reopened its shop at the centre and introduced a brand new concept.

In addition, River Island has signed to upsize to a new 25,000 square foot flagship.

Next has relocated to a site which has double the floor space of its previous shop to create a new 55, 000 square foot two-floor flagship store. The retailer has invested around £6 million on the redesign of the unit, including a reconfiguration of the external glazing and exterior frontage.

The expanded store will allow Next to extend its collections as well as stock merchandise from its children and homeware department which were previously not sold in the centre.

Meanwhile, fashion brand Superdry has updated its space with a new store concept launched in only two other locations and River Island is taking 25,000 square feet in the former Next unit.

Rob Jewell, portfolio director at Landsec, said: “The grand opening of the new Next and signing with River Island to introduce two new flagship stores, coupled with Superdry’s new store concept launch, is testament to the confidence of the retailers that trade in the centre.”
