Skechers to join line-up at Queensgate
Footwear brand Skechers is to open a new store at the Queensgate shopping centre in Peterborough.
The brand is taking 2,611 square feet of space on the Upper Mall in a unit previously occupied by River Island. Due to launch at the end of April, the store has been designed by an in-house team and will offer a selection of Skechers’ 3,000 styles for men, women and children.
This news comes as work commences on phase one of Queensgate’s £60 million extension. The initial works, carried out in partnership with John Lewis, are due to complete at the beginning of 2020 and the full extension by autumn 2021.
Spanning 77,000 square feet, the new space will be anchored by a 10-screen Empire cinema and will create 200 job opportunities once complete.
Guy Thomas, head of retail at Lendlease, said: “Skechers’ new store will join the growing footwear line-up at Queensgate, located opposite Office and JD Sports, and will join the brand-new gym, Energie Fitness. The next few years will be very exciting for Peterborough and Queensgate, with the new brands and extension significantly broadening Queensgate’s regional appeal.”
Other retailers due to join the line-up at Queensgate include crystal jewellery brand Swarovski.
