The Range to open 45 stores over next three years

Homewares chain The Range is to open 45 new stores in the UK over the next three years.

The openings will create more than 5,000 jobs in England and 1,750 in Scotland.

Founder Chris Dawson opened The Range’s first Scottish store in Glasgow last week which he said was a “landmark” for the business.

The Range currently has 76 UK stores which employ a total of 7,000 people.

Later this year, The Range will open stores in Dudley, Edinburgh, Milton Keynes, Southend-on-Sea and Dundee with a further 20 stores opening across the UK in 2014.

The Range has recently opened a 750,000 sq ft warehouse in Doncaster that will support its Scottish stores temporarily while the company looks for a warehouse in Scotland. The Scottish warehouse will create an additional 400 jobs.
