Søstrene Grene to double UK store presence by 2027

Søstrene Grene, the Danish lifestyle and homewares brand, has announced that it is planning to double its UK store presence by 2027.

The family-owned brand has a target of 100 stores nationwide as it prepares to open new sites in Harrogate, Canary Wharf and Stirling this summer.

Mikkel Grene, group chief executive and co-owner of Søstrene Grene, said: “Customers in the UK have responded incredibly positively to the Søstrene Grene concept.

“We continue to see strong footfall, high levels of engagement, and real appetite for new locations – even in areas where other retailers are pulling back.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

“It gives us confidence not only to expand, but to do so in a way that supports and complements local high streets.”

Søstrene Grene currently operates over 330 stores in 17 European markets. The UK openings form part of a wider growth strategy across the continent where there will be 60 new store openings in 2025 alone. The brand is also expecting to grow its  ecommerce presence from 15 to 17 markets by 2026.

The expansion is being supported by Søstrene Grene’s significant investment in infrastructure that includes the current construction of a new 45,000-square-metre automated logistics centre in the Netherlands.

Grene added: “We’re making long-term investments because we believe in the continued relevance of physical retail – especially when it delivers a meaningful customer experience and emotional connection.

“We see an opportunity to bring something different to the UK high street, at a time when fresh thinking is needed.”
