COAT launches Claypaint, a breathable climate-friendly innovation for heritage homes

In a significant stride towards sustainability in home décor, COAT Paints has introduced Claypaint – its most eco-friendly and technically advanced product yet.

Crafted with natural British minerals, Claypaint is the brand’s inaugural breathable paint, designed specifically for decorating older properties and perfect for application on lime plaster.

Rob Abrahams and Rob Green, the forward-thinking founders of COAT Paints, have once again demonstrated their commitment to sustainability and quality. “Our Claypaint is a testament to our dedication to providing sustainable, high-performance paint solutions that do not compromise on quality or environmental responsibility,” stated Green.

Claypaint is distinguished by its use of natural British clays and limestone, creating a flat matt finish (2% sheen) that is almost entirely VOC-free. This innovative paint allows moisture to naturally pass through walls, promoting a healthier interior environment without impacting the building’s fabric. “It’s about respecting the heritage of older properties while ensuring the durability and sustainability modern families need,” Abrahams added.

Priced at £56 for 2.5L and £98 for 5L, Claypaint is available in 76 shades from COAT’s carefully curated core palette. Its formula is 87% water and natural refined ingredients, manufactured entirely in the UK. COAT ensures the highest standards of safety and environmental care, with certifications including Child Safe, Pet Safe, and A+ Indoor Air Quality from Eurofins.

Echoing COAT’s ethos, Claypaint is exclusively made to customer orders, ensuring zero waste in the supply chain. This customer-centric approach, combined with the brand’s climate-positive certification, B Corp certification, and the prestigious Butterfly Mark by Positive Luxury, underscores COAT’s unparalleled commitment to sustainability.

“COAT’s sustainable principles set us apart. We’re not just sustaining; we’re leading with cleaner products, smarter solutions, and bigger thinking,” the founders proclaimed, inviting customers to explore this latest innovation and join them in redefining sustainable home decor.
