Waitrose acquires Surrey shopping centre to secure future of store
Waitrose has acquired the freehold of the 54,000 square foot Hersham Green Shopping Centre in Surrey.
In a statement, the retailer said the purchase will secure the future of the Hersham Waitrose store, which has been an integral part of the shopping centre for twenty years. The move also forms part of a wider strategic investment to strengthen Waitrose’s physical presence in key locations.
As the new owner of the centre, Waitrose will also become the landlord for the 16 additional retail units on site, while continuing to provide parking for the shopping centre and the wider village.

Spanning 27,000 square feet, the Waitrose store has full-service meat, fish and deli counters, a Sushi Daily counter and a dedicated John Lewis click & collect point. The shop also provides home delivery services via Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.
Through the Waitrose Community Matters programme, the shop donates £12,000 annually to local causes and maintains a surplus food partnership with FareShare and the Trussell Trust.
