The Entertainer searches for top retro toy

Public vote for favourite revival
July 15 2003
From He-Man to the Care Bears, and Superted to the Magic Roundabout, the UK public are to get the chance to vote for their favourite toy revival.

With many classic toy ranges back on the shelves, The Entertainer toy chain has drawn up a shortlist of 50 old favourites. The UK public will be able to vote in-store from this week until September 27 in order to select their favourite.
With 80s boy’s favourites such as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Transformers back not just in toy form, but also in comics and animated series, there is a strong collectors market growing for toy revivals, as well as interest from younger consumers.
Gary Grant, founder and director of The Entertainer said: “Over 400 staff in our 33 Entertainer stores assembled the shortlist. Staff in each store methodically discussed past toys and decided which ones they would like to see back on the shelves again.
“All our staff have an expert knowledge of the toy industry which is constantly being updated. We can’t guess what the nation will vote for, but tipped for the top five are Star Wars action figures, She-Ra, and Wuzzles soft toys.”
