JD Sports upbeat despite tough trading environment
JD Sports Fashion has said its first half performance has demonstrated the resilience of its business as it reported organic sales growth of 2.7% for the period.
In the six months to 2 August, total sales were up 20% at constant currency to £5.94 billion when the acquisitions of Hibbet and Courir were included.
Subscribe to TRBPre-tax profit before adjusting items was down 13.5% to £351 million, which was in line with guidance.
Meanwhile, statutory pre-tax profit came in at £138 million compared to £126 million a year earlier.
Regis Schultz, JD Sports chief executive, said: ““We delivered organic sales growth of +2.7% in H1, in what remains a tough trading environment.
“This demonstrates the resilience of our business, underpinned by our agile multi-brand model, broad geographic reach and unmatched connection with customers.
“Whilst we remain cautious on the trading environment for the second half, we expect limited impact from US tariffs this financial year, and our full year profit before tax and adjusting items to be in line with current market expectations.”
