ByBox expands locker network with installations at major shopping centres

Delivery company ByBox is continuing its expansion across the UK with the installation of its lockers at eight major shopping centres.

The move is part of a £2 million development programme which will see Bybox roll out its lockers to eight Capital Shopping Centre owned shopping malls over the next few months with the first site having opened its doors last month at The Potteries in Stoke-on-Trent.

Seven other high profile sites will follow including Lakeside in Thurrock, Metrocentre in Gateshead, Braehead in Renfrewshire, The Glades in Bromley, Eldon Square in Newcastle and The Harlequin in Watford.

Trevor Pereira, Commercial Director of Capital Shopping Centres explained: “We’re committed to finding new ways of making our shoppers’ lives easier. By adopting ideas where digital retailing and traditional bricks and mortar retailing complement each other, we are ensuring that our shoppers have the best of both worlds.”

Launched in 2010, the ByBox lockers enable shoppers to collect their parcels from one of the company’s 400 locker locations in the UK. These include retail parks, supermarkets, shopping centres, petrol stations, railway stations and now self storage sites.

ByBox says the installations at CSC centres will enable the company to accelerate its roll out programme which Stuart Miller, chief executive and co-founder of ByBox, describes as a ‘turning point’ for the company.

He added: “We are delighted to add so many of CSC’s high profile shopping centres to our locker portfolio in a move that will not only allow us to further expand our service offering to customers across the UK but also take us to the consumer.

“We recognise that each and every one of our customers wants to collect their parcels with minimal impact on their life. By having such a high profile presence enables us to further enhance our service offering which we believe is already at the forefront of modern-day deliveries.”

Now a £51 million business, ByBox has been listed in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 and Sunday Times International Track 100 and has recently won the Best e-Retailer Delivery Award in this year’s E-commerce Awards
