Holland & Barrett appoints Anthony Houghton as new group chief executive
Holland & Barrett has promoted Anthony Houghton to the role of group chief executive as it accelerates into the next phase of growth.
Houghton has worked with the health and wellness retailer since September 2018, firstly as group retail and property director then as chief operating officer. He was subsequently appointed as chief executive UK & I in March 2024.
Holland & Barrett said Houghton’s appointment represents its “focus on stability and strong succession planning” as it continues to implement its transformation strategy. While Houghton will join the Holland & Barrett board, Alex Gourlay will continue to serve as chairman of the group.
Commenting on his appointment, Houghton said: “It is with immense pride that I get the opportunity to lead a business with such a clear purpose: to support the health and wellness of our customers while fostering an environment where our colleagues and communities can flourish.
