The Fashion Bible opens first physical store

Online fashion retailer The Fashion Bible has chosen Sunderland’s the Bridges for the opening of its first bricks-and-mortar store as part of plans to expand across the UK.

Founded by Lisa Fox ten years ago, the company has both a UK and international customer base.

Speaking of the new store opening, Fox said: “It was just the right time to do this. And because I’m from Sunderland I always wanted our first flagship store to be in my hometown.”

The Fashion Bible previously had a high street presence due to its clothing being stocked by four Topshop stores in the Trafford Centre, the Arndale Centre, Eldon Square and at the Bridges. Prior to Topshop’s demise, the company was planning for the brand to be rolled out to more of the retailer’s stores.

Fox added: “Because it did go so well in those stores, it has given us the confidence to go it alone and open our own stores.”

The new shop at the Bridges is in a prime location opposite River Island.

The company is hoping to eventually be able to design and manufacture its own lines, which will be sold both online and in-store.

Fox said: “This is very exciting for us and we can’t wait for people in the North East to see what we have to offer.”

Karen Eve, centre director of the Bridges, added: “This is a great coup for the centre and amazing to have the very first stand-alone Fashion Bible store in the Bridges. It will not only enhance our clothing offering but also highlights the confidence that the company has in Sunderland.”
