Mango promotes Marlies Hersbach to chief people officer as David Payeras exits
Mango has announced that its chief online and customer officer, Marlies Hersbach, will become chief people officer in January 2027.
She will succeed David Payeras, who is leaving the fashion retailer to pursue new projects.
Subscribe to TRBHersbach joined Mango in 2020 as international retail director before serving as ecommerce executive director in 2024. She was promoted to her current role in July 2025, when she became a member of the multinational’s management sommittee.
Prior to joining Mango, she worked with Kiabi and Pimkie.
The appointment follows the promotion of Kasia Niemirowicz-Majtas to the role of chief retail officer last month.
Toni Ruiz, chairman and chief executive of Mango, said: “The decision to appoint Marlies to lead the people division is in line with our aim to further align Mango’s culture and values with our business strategy and reality, whilst also committing to the internationalisation of our company.
“This appointment also reflects our firm commitment to fostering internal talent and strengthening female leadership within the company’s senior management.”
Hersbach said: “Taking on the leadership of people is a new challenge that I am tackling with great enthusiasm. My career at Mango has allowed me to see first-hand that it is the people, our teams and our culture that really make the difference.
“My ambition is to continue driving an organisation that develops talent, fosters collaboration and creates the conditions for people and the business to keep growing together, thereby supporting Mango’s growth and transformation.”
Meanwhile, Payeras will leave the business at the end of the year but will work closely with Hersbach over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.
