JD Sports appoints Curry’s chair to board

JD Sports has named Currys Chair Ian Dyson as a new non-executive director.

Dyson will also join the Lancashire-based Sportswear retailer’s Audit and Risk Committee and the Remuneration Committee.

Dyson is currently chair of London-based electronics and electrical goods retailer Currys. He has held the position since September 2022.

Prior to that, he was chair of Asos PLC, a London-based fast fashion retailer. He was promoted to chair from senior independent director in October 2021. Before that, Dyson had been on the Asos board since October 2013.

He has also worked as senior independent director at Flutter Entertainment PLC and was a non-executive director of SSP Group PCL.

During Dyson’s executive career, he worked as group finance and operations director of Marks & Spencers Group PLC from 2005 to 2010. Dyson has also been chief executive of Punch Taverns PLC and group finance director of Rank Group PLC.

Chair Andrew Higginson said: “I am delighted to welcome Ian to the JD Board. He brings a wealth of relevant experience and insight to our deliberations. The appointment of Ian is further progress towards strengthening the board’s broader PLC experience base.”
