J. Crew appoints chief customer officer

J. Crew Group has appointed  Billy May as chief customer officer for the J. Crew brand.

May will take up his position on 15 July and lead all customer-facing aspects of the business. This will include being responsible for the brand’s digital transformation across marketing, loyalty, stores, and ecommerce. He will report to Michael Nicholson, J. Crew’s interim chief executive.

Nicholson said: “Billy’s significant industry experience across a range of well-known consumer brands, and his track record of innovative leadership in omnichannel marketing will elevate customer engagement across our digital, mobile, and store channels.

“He brings a collaborative, integrated approach to brand development, and we are looking forward to partnering with him to return J. Crew to profitability and long-term growth.”

May was previously chief executive of Sur La Table, an independent retailer based in Seattle. Prior to that, he was senior vice president and a member of the executive leadership team at Abercrombie & Fitch.
