Gap appoints Nancy Green as chief creative officer of Old Navy

Gap has appointed Nancy Green to the newly created role of president and chief creative officer of its Old Navy brand.

Currently president of Gap’s Athleta brand, Green will move to her new position early next month.  Her responsibilities will include leading Old Navy’s design, production, merchandising and marketing functions. She will report to Old Navy’s chief executive Sonia Syngal.

Gap is currently conducting a search for Green’s successor at Athleta. In the meantime, the brand’s leadership team will report to Gap Inc chief executive Art Peck.

Under Green’s leadership Athleta’s sales more than doubled and Gap is expecting the brand to reach $1 billion in sales in 2020.

Commenting on Green’s new appointment, Peck said: “This will be Nancy’s third senior leadership assignment with Old Navy, and I am confident that she will guide further growth as we set Old Navy up for success as an independent public company.”

Prior to joining Athleta in 2013, Green served as chief creative officer at Old Navy, leading the merchandising, design and production teams.
