Evans to be sold to City Chic Collective

Administrators to Arcadia Group have announced that the Evans plus size fashion brand is to be sold to City Chic Collective for around £23 million.

Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, City Chic is a plus-size women’s apparel, footwear and accessories retailer that operates mainly online in Australia, New Zealand and the US. It also has a store network in Australia and New Zealand and wholesale and marketplace partnerships in the US, UK and Europe.

Its retail brands include City Chic, Avenue, CCX, Hips & Curves and Fox & Royal.

While the transaction will include the Evans brand, intellectual property, customer base and inventory, City Chic will not be acquiring Evans’ stores which will continue to trade for the time being.

The transaction is expected to complete on 23 December.

Spaeking about the wider Arcadia Group, the joint administrators from Deloitte said: “The process to secure new owners for the other Arcadia Group brands is ongoing. There have been significant expressions of interest for all brands. The joint administrators expect to provide a further update in the new year. “
