Dr. Martens appoints chief brand officer

Dr. Martens has appointed Carla Murphy as its new chief brand officer.

With over 20 years brand building and enterprise management experience, Murphy has been working with Adidas for the last four years in the role of global senior vice president/general manager for Adidas Outdoor.

Prior to that, she was global chief brand and product officer at VF Corporation’s Icebreaker brand and also worked with Amer Sports where brands include Nikita, Salomon, Atomic and, Arc’teryx.

In her new position, Murphy will report to Dr. Martens chief executive Ije Nwokorie and will be responsible for driving brand strategy, vision and creative direction. She will also oversee the brand’s global product, strategy, marketing and sustainability divisions.

Murphy will join the business on 1 July when she will become part of global leadership team.

Nwokorie said: “Our brand is our most important asset, and I’m thrilled that Carla is joining to lead the brand organisation.

“Carla is an exceptional leader with a proven track record for using bold storytelling and fearless creativity to drive growth for world-renowned brands, and she will do amazing work with our immensely talented brand and creative teams.
