Aeronautica Militare lands in Edinburgh

Aeronautica Militare, the Italian luxury slow fashion brand, is to launch its first UK store at Edinburgh’s St James Quarter this weekend.

The store will open on 23 April with an in-store customer event and complimentary drinks.

Specialising in premium clothing and accessories, Aeronautica Militare mostly attracted airplane, aerobatics and Italian lifestyle enthusiasts when it launched in 2004, but now welcomes a wide range of customers who are looking for original and authentic apparel.

As the official retail partner of the Italian Air Force, all decorations, badges and emblems used in the collections are original and worn by the Italian Air Force and Frecce Tricolori pilots every day.

The brand’s new spring/summer collection features garments ranging from cargo trousers to technical windbreakers and embroidered polo shirts to comfortable loungewear.

The Edinburgh store is situated on the third floor of St James Quarter alongside brands such as Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger. The store design is similar to that of the brand’s Italian boutiques which feature soft tones and utilitarian fabrications for a minimal, industrial feel.

Giulia Marini, managing director at Aeronautica Militare UK, said: “We picked Edinburgh as the best city in the UK with a very strong Italian community plus we are in St James Quarter which is an incredible location.”

Nick Peel, managing director at St James Quarter, added: “Aeronautica Militare is not only a first for Scotland but its unique Italian style and offering is a first for St James Quarter too. Knowing of the close bond the family has with Scotland makes us even more proud to have the privilege of welcoming their first store.”
