Currys partners with Uber on rapid delivery trial

Currys is trialling a new initiative where customers in London can order small tech items and get them delivered in as little as 30 minutes by Uber.

Launching the week of 15 November, the venture will be Uber’s biggest UK retailer partnership to date and builds on Currys’ online and delivery proposition, which includes the ShopLive 24/7 video shopping service and a one-hour order and collect service.

Due to run for three months, the pilot will enable shoppers using Currys’ website to choose from a range of 1,800 tech items, including headphones, printer cartridges, laptops and phone chargers.

With the initial pilot phase being rolled out across 15 London stores, deliveries will cover 12 London boroughs including the City of Westminster.

Mark Allsop, chief operating officer at Currys, said: “The world has shifted to a hybrid way of working and more customers are demanding greater convenience and speedier delivery to get their hands on tech. As the UK’s number one tech retailer, we want to make it easy to shop, for all of our customers. This new ‘from store to door’ delivery pilot with Uber is the next step in our exciting omnichannel journey.”
