John Lewis sales up 10.1% last week

John Lewis & Partners saw a 10.1% year-on-year increase in sales last week as customers took advantage of its Easter promotions.

Trade in the fashion category was boosted by the week’s warm weather which helped sales rise by 9.3%. The department store’s Kin and Modern Rarity own brand clothing ranges were particularly popular with sales up 23% and 22% respectively. In addition, John Lewis & Partners shops with Style Studios achieved a 31% sales rise as customers looked to update their wardrobes with summer items.

Home sales climbed by 11.6% as customers prepared their homes for Easter entertaining. Sales of tabletop products rose by 20.4% while gifts and candle sales saw an uplift of 25%.

Meanwhile, the electrical and home technology category increased its sales by 10.2% in the week after trade was boosted by strong sales of fans.
