Angling Direct UK sales top £99 million as loyalty scheme drives record year

Angling Direct has delivered record UK sales in the year to 31 January 2026 as it benefited from the strength of its loyalty club membership.

While group revenue increased by 13.8% to £103.9 million, adjusted EBITDA climbed by 42.9% to £4.8 million.

Sales in the UK rose by 14.8% to £99.2 million driven by a strong performance in the retailer’s stores and online. This included a 11.1% uplift in store sales due to improved customer footfall and conversion.

Meanwhile, UK online sales increased by 20% following growth in website sessions.

However, sales in Europe declined by 4.7% to £4.7 million, although adjusted EBITDA losses improved to £0.5 million.

Steve Crowe, chief executive of Angling Direct, said: “Angling Direct has delivered another strong performance in FY26, achieving significant progress against our medium-term targets despite the well-documented challenges in the broader consumer sector.

“Our MyAD loyalty and repeat purchase membership club continues to underpin our success, and it has gone from strength to strength with UK membership in the year increasing 46.8% to over 600,000.

“This remains a clear competitive differentiator, allowing us to leverage unique customer insights to attract new customers and complementing our ongoing UK store rollout strategy, which saw the group open stores in six new catchments, bringing our UK footprint to 58 sites.”

Angling Direct said the momentum has continued into its new financial year, with group revenue in February growing by 9.7% and UK sales up 11.8%.

However, trading softened in March and April amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, and the retailer said it is remaining vigilant about any potential short-term knock-on effects.

Looking ahead, Crowe said: “Despite these short term challenges, the board remains confident in the long term growth prospects for Angling Direct and we are pleased to announce upgraded medium term objectives, having substantially achieved the existing targets in the two years since publication.

“Our core objective remains unchanged, and I am confident that with our agile business model and strong fundamentals, we are well positioned to navigate the period ahead and fully capitalise on the opportunities available to us.”
