Oxfam upgrades purchase and supply chain systems

Oxfam is replacing all of its major purchasing and supply chain systems in a bid to improve the supply of new products and the financial reporting of donated products to its 690 high street shops.

The charity retailer will implement K3 Retail’s supply chain, buying and merchandising suite, warehouse management and its retail store portal solution K3, in order to reduce costs and increase charitable contributions by improving operations and removing costly manual processes across Oxfam Trading Division. The new systems will ease the flow of purchase orders, deliveries, invoices and ensure more effective replenishment of goods to store from Oxfam’s warehouses.

Andrew Horton, Oxfam director of trading explained: “Oxfam carried out an extensive procurement exercise across the Retail IT market to find the most appropriate supply chain and retail store control system for Oxfam’s growing retail business. After a full evaluation of the K3 solution, we felt it best met Oxfam’s needs to increase sales of new products across our 690 stores.  In addition the warehouse management solution will allow us to manage our shop and e-commerce operations much more efficiently.

“As a result of the detailed work we have undertaken, we are confident that K3’s solution will make a major contribution to maximising the funds raised by Oxfam Trading towards Oxfam’s global work fighting poverty.”

Colin Bain, managing director at K3 Retail & Business Solutions, added: “We’re very proud to be working for Britain’s best-known charity. Oxfam is a major high street retailer and, as such, needs advanced retail systems that will help it manage a diverse and growing business. It must also be easy to use for the 22,000 volunteers who give so generously of their time.”

Oxfam has around 690 shops on high streets across the UK selling donated fashion, books, music, homewares and furniture.
