JYSK posts record turnover
Furniture retailer JYSK has reported a record €2.16 billion turnover in its full financial year.
Operating 1,249 stores in 20 countries, the retailer said it has also seen a significant uplift in customer numbers.
JYSK opened 82 new stores in the period which helped it gain an additional 6.7 million customers.
Chief executive and president of JYSK Nordic Jan Bøgh said: ”We have once again proven that there is still a lot of potential in attracting more customers to our physical stores. Therefore, the opening of new stores will continue to be an important part of our strategy, while simultaneously developing our online platform to offer our customers as many possibilities and as much flexibility as possible.”
During the year JYSK introduced a new store concept and made a major investment in its logistics set-up. It also completed the expansion of its distribution centre in Uldum in Denmark. In addition, the company will soon begin using a new distribution centre in Bulgaria.
Bøgh added: ”A modern and effective logistics set-up and the ability to deliver quickly to both our stores and directly to our customers are crucial to our success. Therefore, the major investments which we have made in our distribution centres is extremely important.”
