Clarks to open stores in Turkey

Footwear retailer Clarks is to open two stores in the Turkish capital of Istanbul.

The retailer has taken one store at the Mall of Istanbul and another at Özdilek Park as part of plans to open at least 25 stores in Turkey over the next four years.

The Mall of Istanbul, a 155,000 sq m development with 350 stores, is one of Turkey’s largest retail projects in recent years. Due to open on Friday, brands will include Clarks, Debenhams, H&M and Victoria’s Secret.

Meanwhile, the 40,000 sq m Özdilek Park in Istanbul’s central business district is scheduled to open in September. The scheme will house 145 stores with retailers such Mango and H&M set to join Clarks and its 155 sq m outlet.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Istanbul-based retail team will be providing support to Clarks as it looks to develop its store portfolio in Turkey.

Toğrul Gönden, managing partner of Cushman & Wakefield in Turkey, said: “We are on track to deliver six new stores for Clarks in a six-month period. The latest two stores to be added to Clarks’ Turkish business are located in simply two of the best retail locations in the whole country. When Mall of Istanbul opens this week and Özdilek Park later in the year, we anticipate Clarks will benefit from extremely high levels of footfall, and not just initially – these new schemes are expected see significant year-round visitor volumes.”
