Bata names new chief executive

Bata, the branded, retail and e-commerce footwear business, has named Alexis Nasard as its new group chief executive.

Having joined Bata on 4 April, Nasard was until 2015 president of Heineken’s Western European business and global chief marketing officer for a number of the company’s global and local brands.

During 17 years at Procter & Gamble, he held various senior management roles including defining the strategies for new product categories and selling through various retail channels both in developed and emerging markets.

Nasard said: “I am very excited at the opportunity to work with the Bata team to further develop the company and its brands, particularly the Bata brand, through a fast-changing consumer and retail environment, building on the company’s strong assets and global footprint.”

Founded in 1894, Bata has over 30,000 employees, 24 production facilities, 5,000 international retail stores, and a presence in over 70 countries.

Thomas Bata said: “We share the same core values which fit the Bata culture. I am confident that through his leadership and team-building skills he will drive new growth and performance for the group beyond its 122nd year.”
