Mattress Online listed in Yorkshire Fastest 50 Awards

Mattress Online has been named as one of the 50 fastest growing companies in Yorkshire.

The prestigious Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 Awards, in association with The Yorkshire Post, celebrates growth, innovation and the commercial achievements of Yorkshire businesses.

Based on financial data filed with Companies House, the list ranks the 50 best performing independent companies which have consistently increased turnover over the past three financial years, whilst remaining profitable.

Mattress Online has ranked at tenth place and were listed as the second Fastest Growing Large Business too through a combination of its online-only model moving to a new hybrid ‘clicks and mortar’ expansion plan, the steady scaling up of its product offer and its work to provide smarter logistics processes.

In 2019 only six per cent of its deliveries were completed by the Mattress Online fleet and drivers but in 2022 this increased to 25 per cent. This has made a massive difference to the business, not only in cost savings but also through customer feedback.

In 2023 and into the future, Mattress Online aims to continue its growth through expanding its leadership team, acquiring more bricks and mortar stores and investing in technology to improve the website and pay gateways as well as expanding warehousing, investing in a ‘sleep lab’ and working with sleep expert The Sleep Geek, James Wilson.

Emma Digby, who is Executive Partner at Ward Hadaway’s Leeds Office, said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mattress Online alongside all the companies in the Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 list for 2023 for their outstanding achievements.

“The companies in the Fastest 50 demonstrate that real, genuine growth is happening. Yorkshire businesses are thriving because they’ve not been afraid to go against the grain, take risks or follow their instincts at a time when uncertainty is the norm. They’ve been brave, they’ve been bold and, as a result, rewarded through continued growth.

“This year’s Fastest 50 list, as always, boasts many management teams with an unwavering passion to succeed who have created high growth, profitable businesses. It’s this spirit, and the business success that it creates, that we are delighted to celebrate.”

Steve Adams, CEO at Mattress Online, said: ““To be acknowledged regionally for our growth by the Yorkshire Fastest 50 is incredible. The recognition we continue to gain celebrating our growth, culture and entrepreneurialism is more than we can ever wish for.

“The UK bed and mattress market is worth £2.2bn. It’s a market that’s still relatively traditional and ripe for disruption and sustainable innovation. These are exciting times for Mattress Online and our team. We’re always looking to the future and how we can add value for customers and everyone in our supply chain – particularly those in Yorkshire.”

“Despite the fast growth we’ve experienced, the team has risen to the challenge consistently going above and beyond. I’m incredibly proud of what we continue to achieve together.”
