Garden Trading delivers record second quarter with 20% like-for-like growth
Garden Trading has delivered a record second quarter, with 20% like-for-like growth following a renewed focus on customer acquisition and retention.
The home and garden retailer said the growth was driven by strong performance across both its direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels.
Trading was boosted by a “standout” Easter and 40% year-on-year growth in May, as the retailer made gains in customer acquisition, retention and value metrics following an overhaul of its CRM. Sales were also driven by new and expanded product collections across its furniture, garden living and home categories, as well as brand partnerships with Seasalt Cornwall and Gozney.
Garden Trading said demand for outdoor living products was exceptionally strong, with sales of rattan garden furniture collections up 130% and teak garden furniture up 65%. Other best performing categories included dining chairs, up 65%, and mugs and tableware, up 185% and 95% respectively.
Richard Bell, managing director at Garden Trading, said: “Our Q2 performance demonstrates the strength of the brand, our proposition, and the effectiveness of our customer-first strategy. Every area of the business has been working towards the same objective: improving customer engagement and lifetime value.
“This progress demonstrates increased positive brand awareness and a more effective online customer journey, meaning that customers not only arrive with greater intent, but are increasingly satisfied with their experience from beginning to end. It’s validation of the team’s hard work and the growing reputation we have within the homeware market.”
