Dobbies announces two new senior hires

Dobbies Garden Centre has strengthened its executive team with the appointment of two new directors.

George Hutchinson (pictured) is joining the business as retail director and Richard Herbert as restaurant director.

Hutchinson has been working with Pets at Home for the last four years as regional operations director. Prior to that, he held senior positions at Wickes, B&Q and Tesco.

Meanwhile, Herbert has been working with Bourne Leisure where he has been leading the national food and beverage offering. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly 12 years at Pizza Express where his last role was central operations and programme director.

Dobbies has made a series of senior appointments over the last 18 months as part of plans to bring in more retail, hospitality and commercial experience.

David Robinson, chief executive of Dobbies, said: “We’ve been focused on building a really strong senior team and we’re proud to share the news of these recent appointments.

“Both George and Richard bring fantastic experience, that complements the expertise we already have in place.

“They’ll each have essential roles in driving forward our strategy, building on the strong start we have had this spring so far.”

Dobbies has also confirmed that its operations director, Nick Anderson, has stepped down from his role after 12 years.

Robinson added: “We’d like to thank Nick for his tireless hard work and commitment over the last 12 years.

“He’s a hugely respected figure in the team, and he’s seen Dobbies through many challenges and successes over the years. We wish him all the best for the future.”
