B&Q to launch new trade-exclusive store concept for TradePoint

B&Q is to open a standalone store for its TradePoint business next month.

The new store concept is dedicated exclusively to trade professionals, aiming to provide a one-stop destination to meet the needs of their business.

The opening in Barking forms part of B&Q’s broader strategy to build TradePoint to a £1 billion business. Its sales increased by 6.9% in the first half of 2025 and accounted for 22.4% of B&Q’s total sales.

Graham Bell, chief executive of B&Q, said: “Growing TradePoint is a strategic priority for B&Q and we’re proud to be launching this new standalone B&Q TradePoint store concept to help make life easier for tradespeople and to help them grow their businesses.

“Understanding the needs of tradespeople has been crucial and as a result, reliability, speed, product availability, competitive pricing and extended hours are all key elements of our new TradePoint proposition.

“Our ambition is to make TradePoint a £1 billion business and as a key milestone in helping us to achieve that, we’re excited to be testing this new standalone store concept and to welcome tradespeople to the first store in this format at Barking in March.”

The new store will offer over 5,500 items, including tools and materials, to take away immediately for jobs ranging from building, plumbing, electrical, and garden landscaping, to plastering, tiling, flooring, decorating and kitchen and bathroom fitting. Customers will also have access to an extended range of more than 25,000 products available for store collection or delivery to site.

Launched in 2011 for trade professionals, TradePoint currently has 1.5 million members.
