More Bodycare stores to be closed this week

Bodycare is to close 30 more stores this week following its collapse into administration earlier this month.

The health and beauty retailer entered administration on 5 September and immediately closed 32 0f its 147 stores which resulted in the loss of 450 jobs.

Administrators at Interpath have now confirmed that 30 further stores will be shuttered on 16 and 17 September. The move means some 235 staff will be made redundant.

A spokesperson for the administrators said they have been running a sales process to establish interest in the business and have received interest from a number of parties in relation to the remaining stores.

They added: “Unfortunately, however, given the shortage of stock and costs associated with operating stores, it is no longer viable to continue to trade all 115 stores retained on appointment.”

Nick Holloway, managing director at Interpath and joint administrator, said: “We’d like to express our sincere thanks to the hundreds of dedicated Bodycare staff who have shown such professionalism since our appointment.

“We will continue to trade the remaining 85 stores while we remain in discussions with interested parties with the aim of preserving as much of the business as possible.”
