Lidl teams up with Miguel Barclay on healthy £7 student supper recipes
Lidl has teamed up with budget chef Miguel Barclay, creator of the One Pound Meals series, to develop seven healthy student supper recipes for £7.
As students prepare to return to university, the supermarket said the recipes aim to demonstrate that eating well for both health and the planet can fit within a student budget.
Subscribe to TRBThe meals have been inspired by the principles of the Planetary Health Diet and the UK’s Eatwell Guide, which encourage people to adopt healthier and more sustainable food habits by incorporating a more plant-based foods and choosing wholegrain options.
According to research commissioned by Lidl, 65% of 18-34 year olds said they actively try to eat healthily every day or most of the time, yet 57% have chosen less healthy options in the past year because they believed that was cheaper.
Lidl is also giving students the chance to win a “Live Well Golden Ticket” through Lidl Plus, which gives them one free Live Well product each week for the rest of the year.
Georgina Hall, director of corporate affairs at Lidl GB, said: “Starting university or college is often the first time young people are responsible for cooking and shopping for themselves, making affordable, balanced meals that are simple to prepare especially important.
“We’re proud to be a student favourite for customers seeking quality and value, and we want to support them to make healthier, more sustainable choices throughout the academic year via our Live Well range, market-leading value, and Lidl Plus rewards.”
