Thorntons on track

Thorntons says expects its full year performance to be in line with expectations.

Own-store sales rose by 2.3 per cent during the 14 weeks to 14 April while franchise sales showed an increase of 1.1 per cent.
Sales in Thorntons Direct increased by 17.2 per cent after increased investment in the firm’s website and marketing. Thorntons said it has continued to increase sales during the third quarter, reaching overall sales growth of 11.6 per cent. Commercial sales grew by 55.1% benefiting from an expansion of Thornton’s business with major retailers. Mike Davies, Thornton’s Chief Executive, said ‘Thorntons has made continued progress in the third quarter following a difficult start to the year. We are beginning to realise the benefits from the increased investment in our stores, the enhancement of our product innovation and the growth of commercial sales.
