The Original Factory Shop appoints Matt Williams as chairman

The Original Factory Shop has appointed Matt Williams as its new executive chairman.

A former chief executive of Topps Tiles, Williams has been a non-executive director of the retailer for the last six years. He will have managing director Phil Briggs and chief financial officer Ian Williams reporting to him when they take joint operational control of the business on a day-to-day basis. This follows the announcement that Emma Fox has stepped down as chief executive to take up a new role in August. Briggs was previously chief merchandising officer of the company.

Matt Williams said: “I am excited to be taking on the role of executive chairman at such a pivotal time in the businesses strategy. Having formerly been on the board as a non-executive director, I believe the business is well placed to cement a unique position in the value retail sector and has strong growth potential. I am looking forward to working with the team in a wider capacity and would like to congratulate Phil and Ian on their new roles and enhanced responsibilities.”

The company has also announced that it has recommenced rental payments to all of its landlords after reopening its stores following the Covid-9 lockdown.
