Poundland to open biggest UK store to date

Poundland is to  open its biggest UK store to date at Nottingham Retail Park this weekend.

Spanning 15,000 square feet, the shop is over twice the size of a typical Poundland store and will offer the discount retailer’s widest range of products yet including PEP&CO clothing and homewares.

More than a third of the space will be dedicated to PEP&CO which will offer womenswear, menswear and kidswear. In addition, the PEP&CO homewares department will include the brand’s latest ranges including kitchen storage items, faux plants, bathroom accessories and soft furnishings.

Nottingham Riverside has been designed to give Poundland customers maximum convenience with extra wide aisles and the introduction of trolleys. The PEP&CO ‘shop-in-shop’ will also have changing rooms for customers to use.

Barry Williams, Poundland managing director, said: “Nottingham Riverside sets a new standard for Poundland. It’s our biggest and best store yet and it means we can offer a wider range than ever before, from longstanding Poundland favourites to new items that our customers are going to love.

“Our colleagues have worked flat out to get this superb store ready. But the story doesn’t stop here, because we’re already working on a new store at Teesside Park in the north east.”

Nottingham Riverside will be the first Poundland store to offer a range of small domestic appliances and customers will be able to choose from a broad selection of items from Russell Hobbs such as toasters, kettles and irons.

It will also have more health and beauty products than usual and a dedicated Rimmel cosmetics display.

In addition, customers will be able to take advantage of a food ‘to-go’ area at the front of the store which will include takeaway coffee from a Costa Express self-serve bar, and snacks and pastries from Poundbakery.

The new shop will create 75 roles for full and part time staff.
