Pets at Home reports 3.9% revenue growth as turnaround gains traction

Pets at Home has said its retail turnaround is gaining traction, as it reported total consumer revenue increased by 3.9% to £614 million in its first quarter.

In the 16 weeks to 16 July, retail consumer revenue rose by 4.9% to £399 million as the business won market share following the impact of turnaround initiatives.

Pets at Home said sales growth was broad-based, with volumes “comfortably” growing ahead of sales.

Vet group revenue was also up, rising by 1.9% to £215 million, with sales in line with expectations. Growth was underpinned by the group’s Care Plan performance and sign-ups, as well as higher-than-average transaction values.

Pets at Home said the encouraging start to the new financial year and retail momentum means it is maintaining its guidance for the full year.

James Bailey, chief executive of Pets at Home, said: “We have made an encouraging start to FY27, trading in line with expectations and clear further signs that our Retail Turnaround Plan is gaining traction.

“Retail saw stronger momentum, with all categories delivering sales and volume growth, while our vet group continued to grow ahead of the market.

“We remain focused on delivering better value, stronger execution and more convenient pet care for customers, while building a more resilient and profitable business.”
